 Non store based is a non traditional retailing which is the retailer doesn't have a shop.

There are direct marketing, databases retailing, direct selling ,vending machines , online web, video kiosk and airport retailing.

Customer is initially exposed to a good or service through a non personal communciatrion and then orders by phone , fax and computer. There other leading countries include Japan, Germany, Great Britain, France and Italy. The characteristics of direct marketing customers are married, upper middle class, 35-50 years old because their are desire unique items, good prices high quality.

The strategic business advantages of direct marketing are :

  • large geographic coverage 
  • convenient to customers 
  • ability to pinpoint customer segments
  • ability to eliminate sales for some
  • ability to supplement regular business without additional outlets

There is large group of prospective shoppers , its captive the audience more frequently ,strong sales per square feet of retail space, difficulty of replenishment , longer operating hours and duty free shopping possible.

The web strength provide information, entertainment and interactive communications, The shopping online experience will ease for the customer for the selection, prices,convenience,and it will be fun. There will be some reasons for not customers shops online that is lack of trust,fear,lack of security,lack of personal communication and high shipping cost.
